Power distribution that withstands load peaks

Electric mobility is growing the load fast. The number of charging points increases, power levels rise, and the simultaneous use of several points emphasises the importance of peak power. Power distribution has to keep up without the system starting to limit use.

We design and deliver the power distribution solutions with which charging systems are connected as part of a working solution. The design takes into account the power supply, distribution, load and future expansion needs in advance.

If the whole has not been sized for this, charging power has to be limited or the infrastructure reinforced afterwards. The solution has to support use also when load and capacity needs grow in stages.

A working charging infrastructure starts with power distribution

Withstands growing load thumbnail

Withstands growing load

Power distribution is sized according to charging loads, use cases and peak power. This avoids situations where charging power has to be limited as use grows.

Expandable in stages thumbnail

Expandable in stages

The solution is designed so that charging points and capacity can be added in stages without having to rebuild the entire system. This is important for sites where use grows gradually or expansion decisions are made later.

A working solution from grid to charging

Power supply, distribution and interfaces are designed as a single whole, so that the charging solutions work without unnecessary adjustment and later reinforcements.

How we build a working charging infrastructure

We go through the site, the planned charging solutions and future needs. This way we define a solution that works now and scales later. At this stage we also take into account load growth and peak power, so that the solution does not start to limit use later on.

1

Getting started

We go through the site, the planned charging solutions and future needs. This way we define a solution that works now and scales later. At this stage we also take into account load growth and peak power, so that the solution does not start to limit use later on.

2

Design

We define the power supply, switchgear and distribution so that the solution withstands the load and allows capacity growth. This ensures that the charging infrastructure works as part of the rest of the power distribution and does not remain a separate system.

3

Execution

We deliver the power distribution solution ready for installation. The end result is a solution that works in practice without unnecessary fitting or later reinforcements.

How can we help?

Tell us about the charging solution’s requirements and its intended use. We help ensure that power gets through and that the whole works reliably also as the load grows.

FAQ about the service

You get support from us throughout the project, from design to execution. Below you will find answers to questions that come up in electric mobility projects.

How do you ensure that power distribution withstands the charging load?

Power distribution is sized according to charging loads, use cases and peak power. This ensures that the system works without overloading also as use grows.

Can charging capacity be grown later on?

Yes. The solution is designed so that charging points and power can be added in stages without having to dismantle existing infrastructure.

What does power distribution include in charging solutions?

The whole can include power supply, switchgear, cabling and interfaces to the charging systems. The scope is defined per site.

Can you come on board even if the plans are not yet ready?

Yes. The power distribution whole can be defined from scratch or carried out on the basis of ready plans.

Why do problems arise in charging infrastructure as use grows?

Because the load often grows faster and more unevenly than originally estimated. Without correct sizing, the system starts to limit power or the capacity runs out.

Why must peak power be taken into account in the design?

Because the simultaneous use of several charging points stresses the system more than average use. The design is based on peak situations, not on averages.
